St James' Church

St. James' Church dates back to 1170, the first Rector was Robert of Wych from 1275 to 1309, then in the Worcester Diocese. The church is the focal point of the village, set at the cross roads, opposite the village pub, village green and playground. The building itself has changed very little since it was first built, except for The Chancel being shorted by ten feet in 1779 as it was in such a poor state of repair! That is not the case now and it is well cared for with a good organ and a very enthusiastic team of Bellringers.

St James's Church, West Littleton

St James’s Church is Grade 2 listed and has a particularly fine 13th century turret and bellcote. The village of West Littleton and its church are not only a source of great pride to the villagers but also give much pleasure to visitors to the area who enjoy country walks along the well posted and maintained footpaths. A project to conserve the memorials and tombs has been linked to an initiative to provide access to the heritage through an archival and historical display in the church, through a dedicated website and through links to local schools and groups.

Thornbury Quakers

Equality - Simplicity - Sustainability - Stillness - Truth - Peace

Are you tired of a world seemingly divided by media spin, political rifts and sensationalism; a world where our connection with deeper meaning has been lost to the clamour of consumerism? There are many organisations working hard to heal these divisions and to bring about positive change.

One of these groups is Quakers.

Quakers is a faith group working for equality, peace and sustainability. Although its roots are in Christianity, Quakers welcomes seekers from all faiths and none.

We share certain ideas, but recognise that the spiritual journey is different for everyone. We believe there is good in everyone and we try to put our faith into positive action in the world.

Our meetings are held in silence and are an opportunity for reflection, for spiritual exploration and for self discovery. During the pandemic we are meeting weekly on Zoom.

If the above resonates with you, please join us.

For further details contact Sheila Waters by phone or visit www.quaker.org.uk to find out more about Quaker faith and action.
